I learned calligraphy at age 9 when my mom forced me to take an after-school class. I turned out to be pretty good at it (especially for a 9 year old), and growing up I did the calligraphy for my friends’ bar mitzvahs, my parent’s friends’ parties and other occasions.
As an adult, I have been working full-time as a calligrapher for over 10 years, and have gained a steady client base of brides, event planners, printers, stationers, and corporate clients across the country. My work has been featured in New York Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot Magazine, Quest and Inside Weddings.
Although I am regularly asked to do traditional calligraphy styles, I’m known for my more modern streamlined styles, most of which I developed myself. There is certainly a place for traditional calligraphy, but I find that many people are looking for a more contemporary look for their wedding or event. I really enjoy creating simple, clean “artworks.” I am one of a few calligraphers in the country to offer styles like these.
I am regularly told that I am very easy to work with – I truly believe that this should be a simple item to check-off your list. Once a bride myself, I understand the stress of planning an event, and I was shocked by the time-consuming personalities and complications. I promise you won’t find any drama or ego here.
I worked for 10 years as a calligrapher in New York City and now live and work in Los Angeles. I work with clients across the country and for all types of occasions.
